The North American P-51D Mustang was built as a long-range fighter and bomber, and was the best fighter aircraft of late WWII, seeing action in other engagements as well. At the time, no other WWII combat plane could match the P-51's range, performance or speed. Over 15,000 P-51s were produced.
The P-51 Man o'War was named for a thoroughbred racehorse regarded as one of the greatest race horses of all time.
Though it was shipped to England during the war, Man O'War did not see combat there. It returned to America and became part of the New Jersey Air National Guard. In the post war years, Man O'War was featured in the 1957 film BATTLE HYMN.
This Postage Stamp diecast metal P-51D Mustang features authentic paint scheme with pad printed markings and display stand as shown.
