B-25J Mitchell Postage Stamp 1:100 Model

The North American B-25 Mitchell was a WWII medium bomber named in honor of General Billy Mitchell, regarded by many as father of the United States Air Force. The B-25 was a versatile aircraft with excellent flying characteristics. The famous Doolittle raid on Japan in April 1942 utilized 16 B-25s taking off from the aircraft carrier USS Hornet (CV-8).

This model represents a B-25 which was donated to the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum in 1981 and was restored in airworthy condition as "Briefing Time", which was used by the 340th Bomb Wing of the 12th Air Force in the Italian Campaign. It sports a depiction of a ship on its nose, representing partial credit for sinking an Italian cruiser. It is currently on display at the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum in Reading, PA.
