This diecast metal model from Hobby Master represents Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Ia, P9374, piloted by P/O Peter Cazenove, No. 92 Squadron, Calais, France. This aircraft was shot down while providing air cover during Operation Dynamo, the evacuation of over 338,000 allied soldiers from the beaches of Dunkirk from late May to early June 1940.
It remained on the beach where it had come to rest for some 40 years eventually becoming covered by sand. Essentially still intact, it was recovered in the 1980s and restored to flying condition.
The model features authentic pad printed markings, retractable landing gear and display stand.
