Details

The Lockheed F-80 Shooting Star was the first jet fighter used operationally by the United States Army Air Forces. It featured a conventional all-metal airframe, with a straight wing and tricycle landing gear. It was the first operational jet aircraft to have its engine in the fuselage. It saw extensive combat action in the Korean War.

This model represents FT-547, assigned to the 8th Fighter Bomber Wing, 36th Fighter Bomber Squadron, "Flying Fiends," Suwon Air Base, South Korea, 1952.
