This Hobby Master diecast metal model represents Black 8 a Grumman built TBF-1 Avenger from VT-8 as it appeared in May 1942 shortly before the Battle of Midway.
This squadron was the first to be equipped with the Avenger. They were also the first to take the Avenger into combat during the battle of Midway. Six VT-8 TBFs participated in that battle flying from Midway Island; 8-T-1 was the sole survivor.
