Though not all World War II American heavy bombers had nicknames or "nose art," the vast majority did. This typically G.I. penchant for personalizing the complex aircraft in which they trained, fought and often died was sometimes comical, more frequently associated with feminine forms, but also functional, regional and patriotic. Boeing Bee is a recent application of this art form and unique to the Museum's B-17F, SN:42-29782.
