Product Description

Details

Even before there were runways, the area south of the city of Seattle was Washington's aviation hub. In 1910 Charles Hamilton became the first flyer in the state when he took his Curtiss biplane aloft from what was then known as the Meadows racetrack. With the help of William Boeing and his growing aviation company, Boeing Field was dedicated in 1928.

During WWII thousands of Flying Fortress bombers emerged from Boeing's Plant 2 at the edge of the airfield and winged their way off to war from Boeing Field.

In the course of over 90 years of operations Boeing Field has seen an amazing array of historically significant aircraft and aviation milestones many of which are captured here in photographs in this book.
